Definition and Explanation (Long): 
This indicator measures the percentage of group members who have given knowledge to or received knowledge from another group member.
Data Requirements: 
Self-reported quantitative data; self-reported qualitative data. Typically, the denominator would be the total number of group members, and the numerator would be the number of group members reporting receiving and/or sharing knowledge.

Surveys; focus groups or other qualitative data for exploration and validation

Quarterly, semiannually, or after specific activities
Purpose: 
The aim of this indicator is to understand how well knowledge flows through social networks. It can also be used as a measure of the average level of connectivity of the network/organization/group as a whole, also identifying how many sources are group members receiving or sharing knowledge.
Issues and Challenges: 
This indicator requires users to define the group of interest here—such as an entire organization, a department or other functional team, a community of practice, or Facebook group. Users will also need to define “knowledge” and "sharing of knowledge" in their particular context as well as an appropriate time period, usually monthly or quarterly, for knowledge-sharing activities.
