  • Lessons Learned from the PEPFAR eLearning Initiative

    The PEPFAR eLearning Initiative began in 2007 under the guidance of the Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator to provide technical and programmatic guidance to PEPFAR implementing partners. Using the existing USAID Global Health eLearning (GHeL) Center, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health Center for Communication Programs (JHU∙CCP), along with over 75 experts from 30+ organizations, produced 20 online courses on a variety of topics, varying from monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to leadership and management to incorporation of young vulnerable children and other key populations into HIV/AIDS programs.

    For many of us, sharing knowledge is second nature. We are often uncomfortable with keeping secrets and information close to our chests, especially when it’s information and knowledge that we are proud to possess – something that we’ve learned from an activity that we undertook, or an experience that we had. We want to share so that our experience can help others. Maybe this is unique to the nonprofit sector, public health, or this generation? Or maybe it’s a confluence of all of these factors? With access to the Internet, Google’s search engine, and the plethora of online learning opportunities, you can learn just about anything online nowadays.

  • Workshop on Using Webinars to Share Knowledge

    On September 9, individuals from 11 different development groups came together to talk about using webinars as a tool for knowledge sharing. The group was brought together by Agrilinks, and featured presentations on planning webinars by Soma Goshal of NetHope and Adrian Gaskin & Okey Nwoke of IRG/Engility.

    I’m pleased to announce that the Global Health Knowledge Collaborative (GHKC) has published a report describing its main functions, activities, and outputs since its inception (under the name Knowledge Management Working Group) in 2010.
